Binding Myself to You

Binding Myself to You

I bind myself to You today –
The strong name of the Trinity –
By invocation of the same:
The Three in One and One in Three.

I bind this day to You forever,
In the power of Your incarnation,
Your baptism in the Jordan River;
Your death on the Cross for my salvation.

Suddenly, bursting from the spice-filled tomb;
Then, riding up the Heavenly Way;
Your coming back at the day of doom
Is why I bind myself to You today.

I'm binding to Your Godhead power,
With love much more than cherubim.
Your sweet, "Well done," in the judgment hour –
In the service of none or love for Him.

The believer's faith, the Apostles' word –
The patriarch's prayers and the prophets' scrolls;
All righteous deeds are done by You Lord
With the purity of the virgin souls.

I'm binding myself to You today –
The virtues of the starlit heavens;
The glorious sun's life-giving rays;
The whiteness of the moon at evening.

The flashing of Your lightning I see;
The whirling wind's tempestuous shocks;
The stable earth and the deep salt sea;
All around the old eternal rocks.

I am binding to myself today –
The power of You to hold and lead;
Your eyes to watch; Your might to stay;
And, Your ears to hearken to our needs.

The wisdom of my God to teach;
His hands to guide, His shield to ward.
The word of God to give me speech;
His heavenly host to be my guard.

Against the demon's snares of sin;
The vice that gives temptation force;
The natural lusts that war within;
The hostile men that try to mar my course.

Of few, or many, far or nigh:
In every place and in all hours;
Against their fierce hostility;
I bind to me Your Holy Powers.

Against all Satan's spells and wiles;
Against all false of heresy;
Against the knowledge that defiles;
Against the heart's idolatry.

Against the wizard's evil craft;
Against all death's wounds and burning;
The choking wave, the poisoned shaft;
Protect me, Christ, 'til Your returning.

By Whom all nature You've created:
Eternal Father, Spirit, and the Word.
Praise to You Lord for my salvation.
Salvation's only of and from Christ the Lord.
