There is a hole, deep in every human heart;
A void, an aching, that never shall depart;
An empty place, that ever darker grows;
Dissatisfaction, that every human knows.
Until the soul, by faith, learns to recline,
In God alone, and say that He is mine.
And then the heart, with light from heaven glows,
The mind at peace, an ever sure repose.
Nothing less, can fill the heart of man;
Only Jesus, ever really can.
“Our hearts are restless, till they rest in Him;”
When once they do, our joy shall never dim.
