Alone in the desert

There's blessings in the desert
it's true, God met me there
I found peace and contentment
along with his loving care.

At first it was quite lonely
while I listened for his voice
I had other options however
this was my wisest choice.

My desire for renewed strength
was heavy on my heart
but I knew as I waited
this was the place to start.

Alone in the desert
struggling and striving left behind
brought inner peace to my soul
that I was determined to find.

as I chose to patiently wait
I can walk now, not be weary
I can run and not faint.
