Shelter of Grace

by Kimberley Allen © 2006

I am the woman condemned in the street,
I am the one who kneels at His feet.
They are standing about me, ready to stone,
Ready to condemn but I'm not alone.
They are quietly whispering under their breath.
Wishing upon me, even my death.

I'm not worthy to look in His glorious face,
Yet here I am hiding in His shelter of grace.
He protects me, defends me, I find I am safe.
His truth washes over me, forceful, a wave.
In Him there's redemption and freedom to be.
I find there a love. Yes, even for me.

I once was ashamed, I walked in the dark,
My life was a death so cold and so stark.
He determined to find me, to enter my world
Stopping the stones the crowd cruelly hurled.
He silenced the whispers they taunted to speak,
The death which they judged and oh how they reek.
He covered and robed me and called me His own.
Never before had I love like this shown.
He shined and He polished, He made me a jewel,
And He set me beyond the death ridicule.

Their attempts doomed to fail they can't bring me down
When He's offered me a place, offered me a crown.
So in Jesus, I remain, in Him I am found
Transformed to the world, a sight to astound!
