Scented Leaves

Scented leaves, false cover up for sin
Sewn together in the garden
Where iniquity on earth did begin
Man in desperate need of pardon.

Fig foliage n'er will be enough
Scented leaves, false cover up for sin
God not fooled, called their bluff
Adam and Eve brought curse on all kin.

Animal slaughtered, God made them coats of skin
Only innocent blood would be sufficient
Scented leaves, false cover up for sin
Will always render the guilty deficient.

Lamb slain from the foundation of the world
Spotless sacrifice, a victory to win
Out the door forever was hurled
Scented leaves, false cover up for sin.

"And the eyes of them both were opened, and they knew that they were naked; and they sewed fig leaves together, and made themselves aprons." Genesis 3:7
"Unto Adam also and to his wife did the LORD God make coats of skins, and clothed them." Genesis 3:21
"But now in Christ Jesus ye who sometimes were far off are made nigh by the blood of Christ." Ephesians 2:13
"Forasmuch as ye know that ye were not redeemed with corruptible things, as silver and gold, from your vain conversation received by tradition from your fathers; But with the precious blood of Christ, as of a lamb without blemish and without spot:" I Peter 1:18,19
