Again, Under Conviction

by C D D © 2020

Broken down by God's conviction,
praying "take IT from me please."
God obliged my heart's affliction
as I wept upon my knees.

Safely on the altar waiting,
IT sat willingly received,
but subtle Satan was debating
how to make IT get retrieved.

Reaching in his bag of evil,
he pulled out some fleshly lust,
hoping it would spark retrieval,
wanting something more robust.

Firing darts of yet another,
mercy hid from my demise,
he sowed discord with my brother,
sprinkled lust upon my eyes.

Fashioned with an evil sneer,
he drew out the pride of life,
whispered lies within my ear,
kindled unrepentant strife.

Flagrantly within my fervor,
even though God's scriptures warned,
Satan switched to an observer,
knowing, well, he had me scorned.

As I paused within my faulter,
feeling played like Satan's pawn,
I looked back upon the altar,
what I'd placed on there was gone…

…Again, under conviction,
begging "take IT from me please."
more grace covered sin's affliction
as I wept upon my knees.
