GROANS TO GLORY

by David Mitchell

Can you hear the groans of mother earth?
The unspoken groans of God's first birth.
From dust to dust a world accursed,
travails new hope in God's second birth.
Where even a sparrow will account as worth,
when the King returns to free all Earth.

Oh the unspoken groans creation hath cried,
tortured and alone God's Son crucified.
Nailed to the cross disgraced and displayed.
Oh the groans of anguish in Spirit He prayed
as Heaven above looked away
Obedient till death sin's debt was paid.
Unspeakable love spoke this Amazing Grace.

Death's sting crushed by the Lamb's risen feat.
Sins chained to darkness, now broken and deplete.
Satan's lies no longer, mankind's Kryptonite.
A world once captive, no longer must fight.
In a twinkling of an eye we will meet in the air
Earth's gravity broken, no more sin to bear.

New Heaven on Earth, God's word revealed made.
A thousand years of darkness the dragon is sleighed.
Unspoken groans to God's glory to come.
In all heaven and earth thy will to be done.
Groans to Glory, let all creation sing.
Holy, holy, holy to Jesus our King.
