True Thanksgiving

True Thanksgiving is more than an art;
It sits on the lips but is born in the heart.
Through mist and shadows of suffering and pain,
It sees that in Christ even hardship is gain.

True Thanksgiving can make a great change,
And help one endure the trials that seem strange.
Then bitterness, worry, and fear are erased;
And with love, joy, and peace they are rightly replaced.

True Thanksgiving is rare in our day;
To hate, spite and envy it has given way.
May the Spirit of God change our mind and its state,
And help us to see that His blessings are great.
