Despite Our Outward Displays

Within a world where riches carry clout
Approaching Jesus can be difficult
For those who do not know what He’s about.
From amid our challenges and tumult,
The Lord calls us to from our labors rest,
Admit we can do nothing of ourselves,
And let the world put Jesus to the test.
Despite the treasured art upon the shelves
Or what’s displayed appealingly within,
(Whether good in their view or deficient)
Our hearts will recreate what we put in.
Those His few accepting grace sufficient
Will know they’ve nothing left of which to boast,
For all they have is of the Lord of Hosts.
