Just One Stone

by Colan Hiatt © 2018

In the book of Samuel, - seventeen
A familiar story is found
It tells how a servant of God
Was protected on the battleground

David was a simple shepherd boy
Tending sheep on the open plain
He knew that if he trusted God
Victory, - - he would attain

As Philistines oppressed on every side
A vast array of armour, they did flaunt
Goliath; their leader displayed clout
Of his victory, - he was confident

But "just one stone" in David's sling
Exceeded Goliath's arsenal
With God, - one is a majority
When it was applied, the enemy fell

As we navigate the road of life
Often "Goliath's" cross our path
Their presence can make us cringe
Satan would inflict us with his wrath

Various examples Jesus gave
The loaves of bread; the widow's mite
Things which many, deem but naught
Are always sufficient, in His sight
