What if, - when I was an infant
No one had cared for me
No one had been my trustee
What would have been my destiny
What if, - at a tender age
When many choices lay before
With many options to explore
There had been no mentor
What if, - as a young adult
When a budding career was at stake
With enormous decisions to make
On me, - the risk no one would take
What if, - through midlife years
On days when there was no sunshine
When failure loomed on the borderline
There had been no rainbow on the skyline
What if, - the Gospel I had never heard
I'd be a vagabond, - a castaway
Wandering down a lost highway
With no hope at end of day
What if, - God had not provided a sacrifice
By sending His Son to Calvary's cross
Life would have succumbed to sin and dross
Through eternity, I would be lost
