Hounds of Heaven

by Raydene Nash

Vehement, Queen Jezebel in fury
Despises all that to God’s word pertains.
She would control while feigning injury,
Insulted when by Jesus cross one gains.
When unable to assert his backbone,
Weak King Ahab handed her his power.
While beautiful, aggressive are her tones,
Yet at God’s authority she glowers.
In the vice grip of his Queen, King Ahab
Conforms, controlled by her tenaciously,
At her word, Naboth’s vineyard he does nab.
As spirit she is God’s sworn adversary,
Sat on the windowsill precariously.
That she will be meat for hounds, states prophesy.
