All depends on our possessing;
Though all earthly wealth will depart.
All of God’s abundant blessings,
Creating in us only pure hearts.
He who has saved and has fed me
Is He who shall ever be mine.
The One whose Joy has now led me
Will remain my one Helper Divine.
Many spend their lives in fretting
For things that can never be found;
Only trifles for the getting;
Though they never possess solid ground.
When with sorrow, I am stricken,
And all my longings will be stilled;
Then, my heart and hope will quicken;
For by Christ alone my life is built.
He knows what is best to grant me.
Joy and sorrow will have their day.
All my longing hopes that haunt me;
All flee when I commit to His Way.
If on Earth my years He’ll lengthen,
All my trust in Him I now place.
My weary soul He will strengthen
As I anchor safely in His Grace.
