New Start

by Dave Mudford © 2019

Cold grey skies hanging overhead
hardships faced wherever I tread,
dark thoughts cripple hopes delight
clouded vision confirms the blight.

Shadows start to swamp glowing dreams
despair part of the devil's schemes,
depressions curse corrupts true life
self-seeking thinking creates real strife.

Certain light discovered in His grace
fears will disappear without a trace,
rays of hope now flood my heart
giving life and a brand-new start.
