TORN BETWEEN TWO SPIRITS

by Peter the Poet © 2020
www.youtube.com/channel/UC_GtbBeRm8ctYlmNqax4afA

At war with myself, the bad versus good,
Torn this way then that way from where I once stood,
Always in turmoil embroiled in emotion,
Like a cork set adrift in a storm tossed Ocean.

My mind wanders away to consider worldly things,
And my flesh follows on for the pleasures they bring,
But my spirit is longing for things more fulfilling,
The body is weak though the spirit is willing.

And Satan is there to urge the fight on,
And he wont go away till I'm dead or he's won,
He heaps condemnation upon my struggling soul,
To steal, kill and destroy is his pride driven goal.

But why all this turmoil? Is the answer not clear?
There can be no struggle when God's Spirit is here,
so why choose the wrong when it leads to a fight?
Just trust in the Lord and he'll lead you to right.

So ask for his guidance to help pull you through,
The to-ings and fro-ings that go on inside you,
Turn away from the bad things that give temporary pleasure,
And God will bless you beyond all measure.

AUTHORS NOTE:
Don't go through life feeling helpless and condemned for your weaknesses and tendencies to sin. You are not alone. Know this. Satan is laughing and rejoicing in your troubles that he has brought to your doorstep. Unlike us, he is good at his job. The condemnation only leads to further sin and forced separation from the only one who can save you from it, so remember that the blood of Jesus washes away all stain of sin and the burden that it brings. Always confess your failings to God and he WILL forgive you.
