Remember me,
Not for who I was but who I wanted to be.
A man of God Spirit filled and led
A man who said what he meant and meant what he said
A man of soft heart for all who would listen
Who loved the Savior glorified and Risen
A man of the Word forgiven and free,
Remember me..
Don't think of the funny and wisecracking Clown,
Or the Grumpy old man with a permanent frown,
Nor for the coarse and rough speaking manner ,
Impatient and arrogant, incorrigible sinner
Selfish and worldly, angry and proud
Who likes to stand out from amongst the crowd
There is a million things not to remember me for
Each one is worse than the one before.
Don't recall the man who had a foul tongue
Who's been seeking attention from the time he was young
Or the exploding temper and overbearing style
A ticking time bomb hidden with a smile
A thief and a murderer waiting to happen
Personality showing a destructive pattern
Indeed there's a lot to be despised
Some still apparent and some exorcised
Remember me…
Not by the things you heard or what you've seen
Know that I tried my whole life long
To attain Heaven which is where I belong
Know that regardless I always meant well
Wanting to save all I knew from eternal Hell
Come to know Jesus was my desperate plea
Remember Me…
