BUSY, BUSY DEVIL

by Peter Fraser © 2020

While you're driving down the motorway with the radio turned up
Listening to the talk show host whose guests are spewing muck,
Abusing other travellers for their lack of driving skill
After choking down another day of life's bitter pill
You may think all is normal in your modern day syndrome
But the Devil has been busy in the sanctuary of your home.

In class at University taking notes attending lectures
Swallowing what they have to teach and disregard the hecklers
Attending to your social life, outings, parties and the like
Experiment with designer drugs to stimulate the psyche
Too busy being young to recognise the Catacomb
But the Devil has been busy in the sanctuary of your home.

Competing in the Blood sports you love to scrap and fight
Training hard you bite the bullet to become a modern knight
You're pumping iron everyday to sculpt the perfect Gladiator
Too focused on glory and success to require a Mediator
The nobility of your fellow man is crushed to powdered bone
But the Devil has been busy in the sanctuary of your home.

Coming from the nightclub feeling happy drunk and boozy
In the wee hours of the morning hunting for a floozy
Dancing Drinking Partying are the catchwords of the day
No thought goes into actions or behavior on display
No thoughts of tomorrow for this fleshy Gastronome
But the Devil has been busy in the sanctuary of your home.

If sport is your religion you are devoted to the team
You live and breathe to support the game even to the extreme
Elevating Prima Donna's who think they're better than the rest
Off field antics leave the discerning public very unimpressed
You can seek your fame and fortune in the modern Hippodrome
But the Devil has been busy in the sanctuary of your home

Walking on the Golf course or playing Tennis on the court
Nurses working in the Hospital or Soldiers manning the Fort
Lawyers chasing ambulances and Accountants counting beans
No matter your occupation, conservative or libertine
Everyone should be aware no matter where you roam
The Devil has been busy in the sanctuary of your home
