THE WRONG ANSWERS

Since man took the fall and has been doing it tough,
Our hard lives we've been trying to ease.
But what is physically good can be spiritually tough,
In our search for comfort we've found disease.

Their are those who are vain and live for their looks,
Popularity and praise from others they seek.
But no preening will get us in God's good books,
Fancy clothes wont help the spirit reach it's peak.

Some turn to drugs to get by day to day,
Their salvation is wrapped in plastic.
But as the high leaves they are left in dismay,
For their spirit is empty, searching and frantic.

Others live to be butterflies social,
With friends every night on the town.
In pleasures and revelry their attitude is parochial,
In iniquity they wallow, in corruption they drown.

There are those who fight to prove their merit,
At the slightest excuse they're in boots and all.
If it's violence we sow, 'tis violence we inherit,
Each punch and kick hastens the fall.

In desperation some turn to the Psychiatrists chair,
The answers to their troubles are sought.
But there's no help to be found in the hypnotic stare,
In the humanist traps like rabbits they're caught.

Others find relief in a bottle or glass,
Through alcohol's mist, life's blade is blunt.
But into God's kingdom the drunkard wont pass,
Although he may seek it and earnestly hunt.

There are those who's lives revolve around lust,
The world of porn and self satisfaction.
But those moments of pleasure are not worth the cost,
Fornicators, for eternity pay for their actions.

These are only a few of mans means of retreat,
From the hard and cold facts of existence.
But we choose our own path and there's no way to cheat,
Don't bother with futile resistance.

Accept the fact that God is in charge,
And seek out his guidance and care.
Watch out for the traps of the Serpent at large,
And to salvation and glory you'll be an heir.

AUTHORS NOTE:
Lets take a good look at ourselves and determine where our priorities lie. If our lives revolve around ourselves and the numerous worldly ways we can keep our minds and bodies occupied, how can we devote ourselves to pleasing the Lord and doing his work? Although I've tried my hardest, I cant find a mention anywhere in the Word, about it being acceptable to forsake God on account of our own personal wishes. So no matter how deep our wants, or how hard the Lord's work may be, lets remember that whatever God may require of you, the sacrifice of Jesus for us was significantly greater.
