Psalm 121

by Bettina Van Vaerenbergh

When I lift up my eyes to the hills in the distance;
Then from where will my help shortly come forth?
My help comes from my God, from the Lord of
Heaven and earth, oh my help comes from the Lord!

The Lord won't allow my feet to stumble or slip;
God never slumbers, nor does He ever, ever sleep.
The Lord is faithful to preserve me from all evil;
Close watch over my soul He will most surely keep.

With the Lord as the blessed shade on my right hand,
The heat of the sun will not scorch me by day.
My God will protect me in the nighttime too;
He'll keep me safe at all times, out of harm's way.

Trustingly I lift up my eyes to the heavens —
Because I know, from whom my help will come forth:
It is my God who will keep me, today and forever;
My help, yes my help comes from my God, the Lord!
