God

by Mark Spencer © 2021

How boundless is infinity?
How awesome is its span?
Can its mass be imagined by
A woman or a man?

What kind of power does it take
To start with the surreal,
To speak a word, and give it life,
And make its substance real?

So many stars and distant worlds,
Stretch out through the expanse!
To wrap your mind around it all,
Can put you in a trance.

But our minds are microscopic,
Our senses form that frame!
The things that we can't touch or see,
Are more than we can name!

If microbes don't believe in us
Will we cease to exist?
If we can't see infinity,
Then should it be dismissed?

For the Lord transcends the senses,
He's more than the expanse!
I praise Him for His majesty,
That goes beyond a glance!

He's more than human minds believe,
He shapes reality!
He lives outside the infinite,
Above what eyes can see!

Who can behold His countenance,
Through eyes sinfully flawed?
We simply kneel, and humbly praise
The magnitude of God!
