O' Lord

by Mark Spencer © 2022

O' Lord, will you open the gates …
Let the righteous find peace?
And when the lofty meet their fates,
May your righteousness increase!

O' Lord, my spirit yearns for you.
You're my eternal rock!
My quest for knowledge burns for you.
In your ways I will walk.

For righteousness is something learned,
By those who hear you speak.
The peace you offer must be earned,
A gift the upright seek.

The wicked then, must change their ways,
And cease provoking wrath.
Before they find, at end of days,
What called them down their path.

Through you O' Lord, peace is ordained!
While we give birth to wind.
Salvation that our pride has gained,
Leads to a bitter end.

Let those who die in you unite!
We followed where you led.
The earth surrenders to the light,
And gives birth to the dead.

The Lord is coming from His place,
The world cries out in pain.
Blood rises from the earth's worn face,
As she reveals her slain.

God's name will rise from every mouth,
As Eden is restored.
From east to west, and north to south,
We'll sing your praise O' Lord!
