THE 21st OF DECEMBER 2020

by Ronald Ferguson © 2020

December 21 has come again.
Today is the longest day of the year.
My place here receives its maximum light;
From dawn to sunset clarity is here.

Soon night is coming when no man can work.
For God we can toil while it is still day.
Take up the cause and spread the light in light,
For that light will begin to pass away.

The Light of God is Jesus Christ the Lord.
He's the Light who has come into the world.
The world loves its darkness and hates the light,
So it marshalled, and around the Light swirled.

Christ was triumphant; defeated the dark.
It could not overcome Him; had no claim
On Him! Light of the world victorious.
Jesus Christ the Lord lit salvation's flame.

The day streams light and the night is darkness.
My long day began with my salvation,
When the Spirit exposed my great lostness;
My endless day is crowned with elation.

Everlasting love; everlasting light;
Everlasting glory; everlasting grace.
They will be just four delightful wonders
Realised in heaven when I see His face.

Today is the longest day of the year,
But my day with the Lord will never end,
The day of His presence will never cease,
For all that day, in His love, I will spend.
