The Blood That Covers

by Clinton Herring © 2022

Like Adam who failed like me
I also tried from God to flee.
But God sees everywhere;
Play hide and seek, I dare?

Adam chose to eat said fruit
that gave his life the holy boot.
Now we're born in death with Him.
Our fate's now sealed and very grim.

But God is hope and mercy and love.
His work a costly path from above.
He gave His only begotten Son
that life for us could now be won.

With stripes of blood, then crown of thorns,
He took abuse and all our scorns.
With every sin laid on His back,
He then became God's heavenly sack,

To tether sin to death's own place.
That we could live and wrath not face.
His precious, infinite, righteous blood
is now our mercy, covering flood.
