Take Heed

by Raydene Nash

Take heed of how appearances you judge,
Oh, how you seek God's child out to deride!
Tell, how from this face you can wipe the smudge
With your lips caked in dirty words so snide.

She is the Father's child of love, in need
Of fellowship with others who believe.
In case you take her offering with greed,
It will be Holy Spirit that you grieve.

She knows what Jesus paid for on the cross,
Unwanted orphan, she's impoverished.
She knows that He positioned you as boss,
For her continued absence you have wished.

Take heed of how you let the gossip flow
When you are in a place to give a hand.
The Spirit placed within her eyes that glow,
That she be haggardly is your demand.

Take heed whom to the devil you would cast,
With that one seeking to see Jesus' face.
Her faith with words blasphemous you would blast,
And all while she speaks joyously of grace.
