Peter

by Frankie May © 2019

To take a 180
I never will do
That terrible thing
Turn my back on you

So why did I do it
I really did try
The voice in my head
Telling me to lie

Three times I did it
What's the matter with me
You were right there
For me to see

The hurt on your face
All covered with love
You would never do this
Deny me and let go of

The love that we shared
The ties that we had
My fear let you down
Now I'm so sad

Forgive me my Lord
I must run and hide
I can't bare the anguish
That I feel inside

To deny you my Jesus
After all you have done
You gave me new life
You called me your son

I don't deserve your love
I don't deserve forgiveness
With one look on your face
You took away all my sadness

You said you would rise
On the third day
We'll meet once again
On Galilee way

I can't wait to see Him
To run to His side
His arms all around me
The only place to hide

Then He will ask me
Not one times but three
Peter do you love me
Then feed these my sheep

From that day on
With His power from on high
I'll preach to all nation's
And will never again deny.
