Memory Lane

by Dave Mudford © 2023

I take a stroll down memory lane
a journey with dust and flooding rain,
as I gaze at the story told
I see His love and grace unfold,
sitting silently reflecting
on how God has been directing
gently guiding
life rewriting
Into the beauty of His healing.

The path I've tread was never alone
for in all my steps, I was known,
sheltered in the refuge of His love
held in the arms of grace from above,
memories trusted to His care
heavy burdens He helped me bear
kindness shown
I am His own
all of His goodness I can share.

The path ahead may seem uncertain
when I forget He's torn the curtain,
memory lane's hold has lost its grip
for I'm living a brand-new script,
one authored by the greatest writer
where even cloudy days are brighter
in love abiding
my fear subsiding
holding onto faith ever tighter.
