To see or not to see ( part 1 )

by Bettina Van Vaerenbergh

As the Lord passed by, He saw a blind man, sitting there in the street;
And Jesus watched, how the disciples threw a few coins at his feet.
"Master, how come he was born blind?", they asked Jesus then;
"Who sinned against God, Lord, was it his parents, or was it this man?"
The answer came, very surprising: "Neither has sinned", Jesus said;
"But he was born blind, so in him the works of God would be manifest."
"As long as I Am in the world", the Lord declared, "I Am its Light";
"I must work My Father's works while it's day; soon comes the night."
Jesus spat on the ground, and anointed the man's eyes with clay -
Then commanded him to go bathe in Siloam, and he went on his way.
After his bath, with newly found eyesight, the man returned to the place;
And of course, the neighbors, and his family too, were greatly amazed…
"How were your eyes opened?", they insisted, "Come on then, tell us!";
And he answered: "I was healed by a man, whose name is Jesus."
"This man, Jesus, passed by, and with spittle and mud He made clay";
"He anointed my eyes, and told me to go wash in Siloam, without delay."
"And so I went, and I took a bath, and immediately I received sight" -
"This man is of God, He can do miracles, I tell you, Jesus gave me light!"

When God gives sinners repentance, Jesus opens their spiritual eyes;
He turns their hearts back to God, away from the world and its lies.
Washed in Jesus' own blood; forgiven, holy, righteous children of God;
They now have power to overcome sin, where before they could not.
Jesus gives us Life, Jesus gives us Light, Jesus makes the blind see -
Jesus Christ is the Truth, and knowing Him will set us free.
And just as it was true for the blind man long ago, it's true for us today:
Our whole life changes, and miracles do happen, if we trust and obey!
