What Fruit?

All platitudes towards God's Word,
My hope, they follow through.
Their speech bejeweled and glistening,
But can their words be true?

They claim a verse then act awry
like steel and clay should mix?!
Deceit their game, they know not Him.
This world they want to "fix".

They act in ways that draw His wrath
then claim they know His name.
They commandeer a verse or two.
Then garner this world's fame.

From God there's hope for even these,
to church they often go.
I pray their hearts now be set free,
They trim their lives with bow.

"Listen", I say, "Him you must know,
the Lord, His name indeed!
Make sure you walk in fellowship
Among the blessed freed!"

"Yes, know the Lord; walk with Him.
Your fruit, it will attest.
For plums don't grow on acorn trees,
Your life must show His best."

Isaiah 29:13
And the Lord said:
"... these people draw near with their mouth and honor me with their lips, while their hearts are far from me, and their fear of me is a commandment taught by men.

Matthew 7:16 Ye shall know them by their fruits. Do men gather grapes of thorns, or figs of thistles?

Matthew 7: 22-23 Many will say to me in that day, Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in thy name? and in thy name have cast out devils? and in thy name done many wonderful works? And then will I profess unto them, I never knew you: depart from me, ye that work iniquity.

James 4:4b Whosoever therefore will be a friend of the world is the enemy of God.
