If it wasn’t for the Lord above.

by Lorin Elias

If it wasn't for the Lord above
I'd be a different man,
I wouldn't know which way to go,
I wouldn't have a plan.

If it wasn't for the Lord above
I'd be wandering in sin,
I would bear the burdens all alone
and have no peace within.

If it wasn't for the Lord above
I'd sink away in grief,
I would struggle with my weaknesses,
and never find relief.

If it wasn't for the Lord above
I'd be here without hope,
I wouldn't find my way back out
and I'd never manage to cope.

If it wasn't for the Lord above
who knows my every care,
I wouldn't have a place to turn
and drown in deep despair.

If it wasn't for the Lord above
I couldn't face the storm,
And fear and doubt would rob my joy
whenever clouds would form.

If it wasn't for the Lord above
I'd be a basket case,
You wouldn't want to know me
or meet me face to face.

But thanks be to the Lord above
who came down to this earth,
and gave up his most glorious home
for a humble stable birth.

And thanks be to his Father
who sent Jesus here for all,
to take our sins upon himself
and save all those who call.

I'm thankful for a Saviour
who made a way for me,
to be clean from sin and have peace within
and live eternally.

So as you see I'm not the man
where I could have ended up,
but Jesus Christ who died for me
chose to drink that cup.

I am grateful that the Saviour
who out of his great love,
gave me life I could have never known
If it wasn't for the Lord above!
