His Crowning Work

by Clinton Herring

God the Father’s grace is good,
His mercy too for time has stood.
Our God so brilliant, the stars are His.
They float in space and turn and whiz!
Light too belongs to Him for sure
The elements by Him do now endure.
Our form is intricate by design,
From Him who changes water to wine!
So life He gave, and gave it free,
To plants and ferns and every good tree,
To birds and fish and animals afar,
and then to us, His crowning star!
His image on us does rest, He blessed,
Six days He worked and then His rest.
But Adam sinned and we all died.
Now hearts of pain and we all cried.
And lost to God for sure were we!
But love from Him, yes given free,
The Son for us, His life for ours,
Jesus who too commands all powers!
His death on a cross and lifted high,
With nailed scared hands and feet, no cry!
He rose from death, which could not hold.
His life so pure, yes infinite and bold!
Now all to Him who look are new,
Their deaths erased, for death He slew!
Such joy to know in Him I live!
Crowning work from Him - to Forgive!
