Home Sweet Home

by John Janzen © 2017

My home, sweet home, that place of rest
Routine and comfort at its best
A place familiar, refuge too
When cares of life are after you

Where friends that last the test of time
Pick up right where they left behind
They laugh with you when times are good
And cry with you as true friends should

The local church, a precious place
The best expression of your faith
For fellowship and breaking bread
Where doctrine’s taught and prayers are said

But sweeter still than these combined
So good, I’d leave all these behind
A home that Christ prepared for me
To join Him in eternity

Sweetest of all homes I’ve known
More precious than the best I’ve owned
The one whose maker understands
The best of homes aren’t made with hands
