The Needy Soul’s Lament and Prayer

by Kevn Smead © 2019

Lord save, I perish,
I don’t know what to do.
The waves have overwhelmed me,
While Ive been “serving” you.

My sin, it’s working,
Corrupting all I do.
It all appears so spiritual
that no one has a clue.

The flesh, is rising,
My prayer time growing weak.
I try to camouflage it,
But my soul begins to reek.

I’m glad, your loving,
And patient toward your own.
Through all my fear and failure,
I am not left alone

Please turn, my sorrow,
Into your joy and peace.
Forgive this wretched sinner,
Help love for you increase.

I wait, I’m longing,
Returning to the word.
I use the means you’ve given,
All else would be absurd.

Please bless, these efforts,
And draw me close to you.
Pour out your Holy Spirit
Like the early morning dew.

Isaiah 43:25 I, even I, am he that blotteth out thy transgressions for mine own sake, and will not remember thy sins.
