My Treasured Find

by Clinton Herring

I looked around the bend of life
and saw more daily, grieving strife.
Why is it so that we must pain
and walk through life in pouring rain?
Such questions in my heart and mind
yet eyes are shut and always blind.
Who is there with light of day
to keep our troubles far at bay?

Only Christ Jesus, God’s Son, it’s true
Can walk with us and take us through.
He alone can take our trouble
And break the lie, yes Satan’s bubble.
The work He did in death for sure,
His covering blood our righteous cure.
This plan of God, His life did give
That we burst forth and truly live!

He cast our sin so far away
From east to west and made it stay.
Pure life in us in place of ours
While breaking all wicked heavenly powers.
He brought us home and stilled our fear.
Read His Word! Yes, listen and hear!
God’s love so strong it conquered all,
And bridge the gap of man’s great fall!

I weep in tears of joy and hope,
He crossed for me that slippery slope.
My mind now opened His truth I see!
New life, and love, and hope so free!
The cost to Him beyond my mind?!
Yet He in me my treasured find!
