He is risen!

by Clinton Herring

In winter time the snow comes falling
bidding all come play, its silent calling.
The air is crisp, the sun often gleaming
The sky deep blue, our mind’s caught dreaming.
A fun place to be in the white powered snow,
with a horse trotting on and a sleigh in its tow.
Yet the cold is harsh and is not forgiving.
For one not prepared it can take the living.

Sin is the same bidding all come and play,
“You’ll not be hurt”, yet all it will slay!
The lie is enticing, and cares not who it crushes.
No one’s prepared! Through humanity it rushes!
We’ve all fallen short of God’s great glory,
Sin doesn’t care, it despises God’s story.
But God’s Word not bending; it’s spoken on high,
Every soul that does sin, that soul must die!

We’re all now caught in death and its loathing,
like “winter’s freezing” without any “clothing”.
Death is what comes; to us, and to all!
From Adam it comes to all from the fall!
But God sent One in His mercy and compassion,
Who through death gave life in glorious fashion!
Jesus, the Lord, the Lamb that was slain.
Took death for us all, every sin, every stain!
And those who believe new life to is given!
As death could not hold Him, He’s Life, He is risen!
