You understand us, both inside and out
You understand where all our thoughts are going
The secrets of our inner places knowing
Our words and ways that we will talk about.
You hedge us in and hold us in Your hand
This knowledge is beyond our comprehension
So high it seems to be a new dimension
And calling us to seek Your heavenly land.
For is there any other place to be?
Your Spirit, and Your presence is abounding
For You are there in heaven or hell surrounding
Though we might live so far-off oversea.
If we should say, 'On us the darkness falls'
For though the night shall be as light about you
And that this darkness cause us to doubt you
Light shall be Your light when darkness calls.
You wrought our inward parts for we are formed
In ways most wonderful and so fearfully
In secret we were made by You most skilfully
Yet saw us when our substance was unformed .
Your thoughts are preciousness, to us, we said
The sum of them more than the sand uncounted
Yet, searching us, our anxious thoughts You counted
As in the everlasting way with You we tread.
And would Your love not flow within our veins?
For wondrous Grace our longing hearts are burning
As for Your presence hungry hearts are yearning
You saturates us now with heavenly rains.
