Yearning for reunion

by John Zylstra

There once were four,
three are no more,
they've gone ahead
to everlasting glory.
My road winds on,
it won't be long
before I end my earthly story.
But until then
I will remain,
God will retain
His grip, as I am yearning.
And He will guide,
He'll stay beside
through all the twists and turnings.

Though every day
I know I stray,
I'll lose my way,
and never earn my glory!
I cannot trust
my strength, I just
must trust that He'll restore me.
I still rebel, but know full well
that as I go along this journey,
that I am safe
in His embrace,
for He has earned
my place through grace,
and granted me His glory.
