Hidden Treasure

by Pearl Leona Sturgis
https://www.facebook.com/pearlleona

I climbed upon the mountain
to leave it all behind.
I thought to seek a treasure
not knowing what I'd find.

And I recorded every thought
that passed me one by one.
In stead of counting blessings
I counted chores undone.

Then suddenly I realized...
the things I could not see.
The very thing I treasure most
Is someone needing me.

And so, this hidden treasure
within my memory burned.
Some very special people
await for my return.

I tightly grasped the treasure
to bury in my mind
while heading down the mountain
for what I left behind.
