The Cross Bridged The Gap

by Margaret Cagle

I dreamed I was driving to Heaven
In my old model tattered car.
I knew it would be a long trip,
For Heaven was probably far.

As I was driving, I was aware
Of distractions along the way.
I was told that I had to work,
So I could get to Heaven one day.

As I drove on down the road,
I came to face a big long gap.
"There's no bridge here!" I gasped,
So I took out my Bible, the map.

The map showed only one way
To get to that Gloryland fair,
Repent of my sins and ask Jesus
To save me as I bow in prayer.

I trusted Jesus as my Savior,
Obeying instructions in my map.
Then I looked on down the road,
And a cross was bridging the gap.

Jesus shed His blood on a cross.
He has already paved the way.
He arose from the dead, and He lives!
Accept Him and go to Heaven one day!
