Grandma's Witness

by Margaret Cagle

We visited my grandma's house
Many, many long years ago.
She greeted us with a smile.
Her face just seemed to glow.

We could not visit very often
Because we lived so far away,
So Grandma always made sure
She said what she wanted to say.

Grandma sat us down by her
One day while we were there.
She talked to my sister and me,
And then she said a prayer.

Grandma opened her big Bible
And strained her eyes to see,
As she read many Bible verses
To my big sister and to me.

Then Grandma hugged our necks.
"I love you, girls!" she cried,
"But Jesus loves you even more.
For your sins, He bled and died."

Not too long after that visit,
My dear grandma passed away.
I remembered what Grandma said
When she read her Bible that day.

Later, when I went to church,
I walked the aisle and got saved.
My grandma had sown the seed.
By her witness, the way was paved.
