Slaves To Sin

by Margaret Cagle

I saw a teen walking down the street.
He had tattered shoes upon his feet,
But in his mouth was a lit cigarette.
He proudly displayed it to those he met.

A neighbor gets drunk each Saturday night.
It quickly puts him in a mood to fight.
Alcohol causes him much sorrow and woe.
Why can't he see that it is his foe?

A myriad of sins are committed each day
By saved and lost sinners along the way.
We do not have to be a slave to sin.
Jesus shed His blood to cleanse us within.

Friend, are you a slave to sin too?
There are many slaves to sin; that's true.
A slave to sin, you don't have to be,
For Christ Jesus died to set us free.

If you're a lost sinner, fall on your knees.
Ask Jesus to save you; He'll hear your pleas.
If you are saved, then confess your sin.
He will forgive and cleanse you within.
