His Mercy And His Grace

by Margaret Cagle

I was just a poor lost sinner,
Sadly, I was on my way to Hell.
I asked Jesus to save my soul.
Repenting, on my knees I fell.

I pleaded with the Savior,
"I am guilty of great sin.
I deserve great punishment.
Please try my case and win!"

He said, "For your great sin,
I was punished in your place.
I will not give you justice,
But I'll give mercy and grace.

I am on my way to Heaven,
For my Savior won my case.
I could not earn salvation.
It was by His mercy and grace.
