Life Stains Torn Away

by Tyler Harvey

I really need a break from this
I really need a cure
These life-stains that so strongly try
To break me from the pure:

I'm tired of the fighting
I'm tired of the pain
I'm ready for true peace
True peace...no disdain

This life is full of suffering
No purpose here nor there
Abortiveness and brokenness
And sorrow everywhere.

'tis life that once had meaning
'tis life that once had song
'tis life that told me family
Was built to be headstrong

But through these common turmoils
And through this common tread
I decided to give up truth
In search of life instead

I really need a break from this
I really need a cure
These life-stains that so strongly try
To break me from the pure:

Darkness all around me
Darkness in my soul
Darkness is the precipice
Darkness is my goal

Why the feeling of mere hatred?
Why the blame On High?
He's not the source of all this hate,
Offense, iniquity, divide

Still, no stopping, turning back
No reaching out my hand
No really missing what I had
I really love this land

Do not ignore the Call of God
I'm told and told each day
Do not pretend to be alright
When troubles come your way

I really need a break from this
I really need a cure
These life-stains that so strongly try
To break me from the pure:

It's not the truth that troubles come
That God has made intact,
But through His love He gives them space
So Glory is not lacked

The Truth of God in all its right
Is steadfast in its power
And when it's chosen over death:
Goodbye, artificial flower

This love that's come has shown me truth
And made my path with light
I've known my fault and turned to God:
My grant of life alright

I trust Him more each day and day
As He begins to build
A life of service and of peace
The goal of hence set forth

I have my break; I've been set free
I've found the Eternal Cure
These life-stains have been torn away
My life has been made pure
