I stood today upon a mount
and saw sin's remnants-I could not count
the untold ones that bore my name
and led my Savior to his shame.
The rent of flesh-the reeky waste
the tears of guilt upon his face
with sin's insult so sleek and sly
demanding for me to bleed and die.
I saw a face drenched in blood
that bought for me a raging flood
of dreams and joy of grandest size
and led me toward an unmerited prize.
I stepped today upon a hill
the trees and flowers grew there still
squirrels and foxes roam this place
but I saw within a Savior's face.
O' the morbid things that were so true
I saw today on that hill with you.
You've opened my blinded eyes to see
a new life that began on Calvary.
