Son, Go Answer The Door

by T Rock © 2023

Do they see me walking up the lighted path
Will I be welcomed in, or will I receive their wrath
Unsure, softly knocking, I feel a spark of hope
But then I think I should leave; not sure I can cope

It has taken most of a lifetime for me to arrive
Fighting many life trials, just trying to survive
Not even quite sure what awaits on the other side
But hoping someone is home, one in whom I can confide

Am I worthy to enter; Can I handle what will ensue
The entrance seems narrow; will I be able to pass through
Falling on my knees, and in anguish, I begin to pray
Please let me come in; I cannot endure one more day

I then hear beautiful music and a choir loudly humming
Still, I don't hear any footsteps; is there anyone coming
I begin to knock loudly; with each rap, I whisper a plea
Wondering will the door be opened, do they even hear me

It then becomes quiet; I am afraid of what is in store
Then I hear the Father say; Son, go and answer the door
Set another place at the table; our child is finally here
Invite him into grace; the time has come to erase all his fear

"Ask and it will be given to you; seek and you will find; knock and the door will be opened to you. For everyone who asks receives; the one who seeks finds; and to the one who knocks, the door will be opened. Matthew 7:7-8
