A New Covenant

by Dave Mudford © 2023

Blood stained the rugged wood,
when I needed help; You stood;
suffocating breath; my sin,
the light in the sky; grew dim.

Nails engraved my name on hands,
in my place the Saviour stands;
beaten flesh; His love displayed,
once for all, never replayed.

Life found within His sacrifice,
pure given; to pay the price;
he has taken all my strife,
death now dead within His life.

Broken body given for me,
to give hope and set me free;
blood shed; a new covenant,
killed by more than government.

Christ's holiness He does impart,
bringing me back to Father's heart;
so live today for our Lord,
all of Jesus grace explored.
