Shepherds

The sheep are calmly chewing grass
Amid the murmur of the bees
Their peaceful visions come to pass
And birds are singing in the breeze.
The shepherd watches all the sheep
To seek the lost and guide their way
And guard their safety as they sleep
While keeping hungry wolves at bay.
There are some shepherds who will know
Their sheep will not be there for long
Some to the slaughterhouse will go
To find their country dream was wrong.
The shepherds have a purposed plan
Their care is only for a time
And worth is only for a span
The sheep will hear the final chime.
There is One Shepherd who will care
And all His flock will know His voice
Whose loving sound makes them aware
And leads them to a better choice.
Though other voices reach their ears
And hirelings seek to enter in
The Shepherd voice will calm their fears
And spread His peace and joy within.
One flock, one Shepherd, this will be
The sound and tender heart of Grace
A future in eternity
The glory of the Shepherd's face!
