When God made the birds, He designed each one in a different way.

One of the birds God made is called a parrot. There are many different kinds of parrot, and each one lives in a different place and in a slightly different way.

There are about 300 different kinds of parrot in the world today.

Parrots can show when they are upset or annoyed. Some of them have a crest of feathers, which they raise or lower, like a line of flags.

Can parrots sing? No, but they Sure can screech! They are also very good at copying other birds and 'stealing' their songs. If a parrot lives with people it Soon learns a whole lot of other sounds too, including words.

One parrot, the kakapo, cannot fly. In the past, it may have been good at flying, but since it came to New Zealand it may have lost the ability to fly.
