Wording of this Handout:

How small is a termite? It can be as tiny as 3 to 5 millimetres long.
that's about this long:

How big is a termite's home? Up to 30 feet high! (Nine metres!!!) That beats the Sky Tower in Auckland and the Empire State Building in the USA - if they were in the same proportion as we are to these buildings.

So there we have it, a city of termites, all working together to build and repair their city. None of them has enough brain to know what they are doing, and most of them are blind, yet they all work together.
They know how to face the tower the right way, and they know how to grow their own food, yet nobody taught them anything.

Deep inside the nest is the queen termite. She is really big - up to 35 millimetres, and all she does is lay eggs. She has servant termites around her, who look after her in every way, and soldier termites, which are always guarding her.

The Australian termite builds its tower out of mud. It shapes it so that it is thin and wide, with the narrow edge facing the midday sun. This means that, when the sun is at its hottest, the tower gets the least sun, but in the evening, when the day is cooler, the sun falls on the wide side and helps to keep the termites warm.

But the amazing thing is that the worker termites are blind, yet they build, and repair the tower, and gather food for the queen.

Imagine blind-folding builders and then asking them to build you a house! They might manage something, but it would be extremely difficult for them.

Even the humble termite shows how wonderful God - who made it really is.
