When Jesus Comes

If you had an office job, and you knew the boss was away until 5 p.m. and you knew the boss wanted the room tidied up, when would you do the tidying?

Perhaps you would do the job as soon as the day began, perhaps after lunch. It wouldn't really matter, as long as the work was done by 5 p.m.

But what if the boss said he would be back "some time in the afternoon"? Now you might like to take a chance and leave the tidying till 4:45 p.m., or you might think the boss could come at any time, and get the job done just in case he surprised you.

It is a bit like this with Jesus. He promised to come back, but he didn't say exactly when he would return, so we can either take a chance and not do what we are supposed to do...or we can be busy on his work right now. We don't know when he will appear, so it may not be worth the risk. After all, there are rewards waiting for faithful, hard-working Christians.

The Bible says, " And now, little children, abide in Him, that when He appears, we may have confidence and not be ashamed before Him at His coming."
