John Lennon wrote a song in which the words, "Nothing's gonna change my world," are repeated over and over. Unfortunately, John was shot by one of his fans.
The Romans boasted that their Empire would never fall, yet it lasted only a few hundred years. Alexander the Great was ruler of a huge chunk of the world, and he thought it would stay like that for a long time - until he choked to death in his thirties. The Germans claimed that their rule would last a thousand years, but they were gone in about five years.
Over and over again people have come along claiming to be in charge, but something always happens and they pass away.
The only thing which is really certain about this world is that it is temporary. Life is short and full of surprises. God rules and overrules in everything man does, because God knows best.
The Bible says, "He changes the times and the seasons; He gives wisdom to the wise and knowledge to those who have understanding."
